Ask the Redback Team – Our Top Reasons to Try Virtual Training!

Web Conferencing, Webinars, Online Meetings… they’re all becoming commonplace and they’re definitely changing the way that we connect, communicate and collaborate.

But how do you know if they’re right for you and your organisation when it comes to training andeducation? And, if they are, how do you convince others that the grass is greener?

We’ve done a little internal survey and come up with the main benefits of online training… here are the top 7!

Ease – “There’s no special software involved so your attendees don’t need to be technical geniuses. It’s simple… if they know how to use the internet then they will know how to access your training sessions!” – Chris

Convenience –“You automatically eliminate the headaches of having to get everyone in the same place at the same time. People can join from wherever they like, and that really appeals to people.” – Isaac

Cost – “It significantly decreases! There’s no need to worry about the cost of training rooms, travel or food!” – Michael

Hear it from the guys themselves!

Increased retention – “It’s no secret that collaborative learning increases satisfaction, which in turn leads to higher retention rates. Think about it, if people are receiving the necessary training and development they are going to be less likely to look around.” – Jing

Increased Productivity – “If your employees are cutting down on the amount of travel time to training events, they are going to be spending more time on the job, which means higher productivity levels and much more time spent on the important things.” – Kurt

Instantaneous reporting and feedback – “Live registration allows you to monitor who registers, contributes, attends and leaves a session, while built-in reporting capabilities allow you to track questions asked and respond to polls/Q&A. This is crucial when it comes to evaluating your training and gaining valuable feedback.” – Natalie

Interactivity – “These days there’s such a huge variety of online interactive tools available. You’ve gotpolls, question/answer functionality, social media and so much more – it’s almost like you’re really there!” – Aiza

The future of web conferencing is here – so what does this mean for you?

This week we announced the arrival of our new web conferencing platform, omNovia.

Direct from the United States, our new technology, which goes live on January 1st 2013, offers a range of sophisticated features that are going to change the way that you run your online meetings.

While new features are always exciting, they don’t really mean much if you don’t know what to do with them. I’ve taken a look at the new system, filtered through some exciting applications and have decided to share them – take a look and join us in getting excited for what’s to come in the New Year!

It’s just like being at the movies!

We all know that interactivity and engagement are critical to the success of any webinar or web conference. What better way to break the ice and monotony of a PowerPoint presentation than launching a video from right within your interface? Our new platform lets you play videos without having to convert and upload them beforehand.

That’s right; you don’t even have to know what you are looking for! It’s simply a matter of typing a YouTube URL or keyword into the required field. The platform will then conduct the search and all you need to do is press play – Now that’s pretty cool!

It’s about joining from wherever you want…

Look around, how many people near you don’t own a smart phone? Here at Redback we like to move with the times and encourage our clients to embrace technology.

Our new platform allows you and your attendees to join webinars and web conferences from a variety of devices including Smart Phones and Tablets!

Think of the possibilities… your presenters are no longer limited to presenting from their desks and your attendees can join your webinars on their way home from the office – it doesn’t get more accessible than that!

Presenting has never been easier!

We like to provide as much content as possible around the do’s and don’ts of presenting online; so it’s only fair that we give you some advanced tools that can help you present like a pro! Here’s a sneak peek at the new tools that you will shortly have access to…

  • Thumbnail options: Your presenters will now be able to view their upcoming slides just like in PowerPoint
  • Move slides on keystroke: No more having to use your mouse to advance slides, your presenters will now have the option to move their slides simply by using the arrows on their keyboard
  • Laser Pointer: Making a point has never been easier with our new laser pointer annotation tool
  • Shared Document Folder: Presenters can now upload a range of documents and links to an online document folder. This means that participants will be able to access them with a simple click of their mouse
  • Enhanced Q&A Functionality: Forget having to scroll through the messages box, your webinar facilitator can now prioritise and keep a track of all questions and comments through a full sized Q&A Manager

We’re incredibly excited to be able to bring you these awesome new features! Why not get familiar with the service before it goes live by joining one of our free online training sessions?

They will run from Monday 10th December – Friday 25th January and will provide you with all the tools needed to run effortless online meetings! Register Now!

Until next time…

“Show us your Mo’s” – get involved and support Redback during Movember!

This year the Reback Budding Bros are saying goodbye to their fresh faces and getting involved in this year’s Movember! We’re hoping to raise as much money as possible for charity and witness some memorable mo’s in the process!

How can you get involved?
Donating is easy, simply click here to visit our Mo Page and donate as much as you wish to the entire team! Our goal is to raise a total of $1000 and we know that with your support we can do it!

Remember, all donations are tax deductible – now that’s a win win!

How it’s going to work…
On November 1st our budding bros will prepare by picking up the razor and ensuring they are completely clean-shaven. Then, for the rest of the month these selfless and noble men will continue to grow and groom their marvellous mo’s all in the hope of reaching our goals – $1,000 in donations and the most memorable mo!

Look into the future - a snapshot of what's yet to come!

Still need convincing? Maybe our budding bros can help…

“I’m willing to risk looking like a caveman for charity – you’ve got to pay that!”
– Chris McKeown
“I’m willing to risk my girlfriend not talking to me for an entire month – surely that’s worth a donation?”
– Mike Wingfield
“I’m willing to risk my entire reputation – tell me that’s not worth a few dollars?”
– Michael Bunker

A little about Movember…
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in Australia and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and male mental health.

Here’s why it’s so important…

  • One in eight men will experience depression in their lifetime
  • One in five men will experience an anxiety disorder.
  • Untreated depression is a major risk factor for suicide. Currently, males contribute to 80% of all suicide deaths in Australia. This is four out of every five males. (ABS, 2012)

We’re incredibly excited to be part of this year’s event and are looking forward to reaching our ultimate goal!

Until next time,

Vote 1 Redback!

Ok, so we think we know you all well enough to toot our own horn every now and then…  and possibly ask a small favour?

We’re excited to be in the running for the 2012 City of Sydney Business Awards but we need your help! Maths really isn’t my thing, but I think I’ve worked out the formula…

Redback gets nominated + the more votes we receive = the more chances we have of winning!

I know the question you’re probably all pondering is “why vote for Redback?“, so I’ve taken the liberty to provide you with a few reasons:

1. You’ve recently received exceptional service from someone in the Redback Team
that left you thinking WOW!

2. You have always found us to be supportive, innovative and the type of
company that actually cares!

3. You think we’re really cool!

Voting is easy and you have two options to do so…

1. Simply click here and select VOTE where it appears next to Redback Conferencing

2. SMS RED2012 to 0498 500 100

Thanks once again for all your support. We’ll be sure to update you once the results come through – enjoy your weekend!

Until next time…

Movin’ on up!

This week the Redback Team packed up and moved on over to Level 3, 285 George Street. Although it’s only one block away and one level up, it has been a much welcomed change and a huge step forward!

With 3 times the office space, two brand new training rooms and an entire games area – what isn’t there to love?

We also had the opportunity to meet our new neighbours during our New Kids On The Block gathering on Thursday. It’s OK though, there will be plenty more opportunities for wine, cheese and foosball once we all get settled.

For those of you based in Sydney pop in and say hi – and for those interstate, let us know when you are in the area and we will be happy to play you in a round of pool!

Until next time…
Sara Gonzalez

We’re Talkin’ the Talk!

I’m quite a patient person, but there are two things that get under my skin…

People who don’t wave when you let them cut in front of you while driving, and speaking to automated voice recognition systems. Although I have a little trick up my sleeve (saying blah blah blah into the phone works a treat!) I still struggle with why… why can’t someone just answer the phone and help me?

I guess this is why I ended up working for a company that actually “talks the talk!”

Behind all the fancy computers and advanced technology there’s a group of people that are, well, actually human. We take our work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously, we listen to each other, we work together and we own up when we stuff up!

I invite you to subscribe to Redbacktalk and get to know us a little better – chances are you will eventually speak to a few of us anyway! This blog will be your one stop for tips, resources, industry updates and wonderful insights from the entire team.

Simply click here  to subscribe, ensure Weekly Blog is selected under your interests and we’ll update you each Friday afternoon!

Enjoy!
